CECC confirms 38 more COVID-19 cases, including 13 domestic and 25 imported cases

On January 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 38 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 38 new cases, 13 are domestic and 25 are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are four men and nine women, aged between under five and 79 years.

Regarding the 25 new imported cases, they are eight men and 17 women, aged between 10 and 79 years. 19 of them arrived in Taiwan from Canada (five cases), the US (three cases), Thailand (three cases), India (three cases), Japan (two cases), Nigeria, Sweden, and China; while the areas where the other six arrived are being investigated. They all arrived between January 11 and January 24, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,501,288 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,482,563. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 18,441 cases. Of the 18,441 confirmed cases, 3,429 are imported; 14,928 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 122 cases (three newly added; removed after testing negative the second time) have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
