CECC moves Hong Kong to the list of low-risk countries, adds Israel to its list of medium-risk countries and removes Vietnam from its list of medium-risk category based on pandemic surveillance and assessment

On May 26, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) reported that local infections in Hong Kong continued a downward trend since March, and the region has met the criteria for the list of low-risk countries/regions for four weeks. Therefore, the CECC will move Hong Kong from medium-risk countries/regions to low-risk countries/regions, effectively immediately. The CECC also reported that local infections in Israel continued to decrease, and the country has met the criteria for the list of medium-risk countries/regions for two weeks. Therefore, the CECC will add Israel to its list of medium-risk countries/regions, effective immediately. On the other hand, as local infections in Vietnam has continued to escalate, with local cases reported in at least 30 administrative districts in the country, the CECC will remove Vietnam from its list of medium-risk countries/regions, effective immediately.

The latest list of the risk categories for countries/regions is as follows:
1. Low-risk countries/regions: New Zealand, Macao, Palau, Brunei, Nauru, the Marshall Islands, Australia, Hong Kong.
2. Medium-risk countries/regions: Fiji, Bhutan, Singapore, Israel.
