CECC confirms 27,275 more COVID-19 cases, including 26,967 domestic cases and 308 imported cases

On August 25, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 27,275 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 27,275 new cases, 26,967 are domestic and 308 are imported. The CECC announced 37 deaths today.

Regarding the 26,967 new domestic cases, 12,263 are male and 14,694 are female, while the gender of the other 10 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 5,892 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,444 in Taipei City, 2,995 in Taichung City, 2,935 in Taoyuan City, 2,138 in Kaohsiung City, 1,765 in Tainan City, 1,069 in Changhua County, 820 in Hsinchu County, 716 in Miaoli County, 713 in Hsinchu City, 635 in Pingtung County, 612 in Yunlin County, 582 in Yilan County, 531 in Hualien County, 526 in Keelung City, 423 in Chiayi County, 387 in Nantou County, 251 in Taitung County, 242 in Chiayi City, 158 in Penghu County, 126 in Kinmen County, and seven in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 37 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 25 men and 12 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 308 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 25 and August 24, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 15,898,092 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,747,388. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 5,142,279 cases. Of the 5,142,279 confirmed cases, 26,072 are imported; 5,116,153 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,728 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,728 deaths, 9,712 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
