On December 27, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 24,498 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 24,498 new cases, 24,427 are domestic and 71 are imported. The CECC announced seven deaths today.

Regarding the 24,427 new domestic cases, 11,366 are male and 13,041 are female, while the gender of the other 20 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,717 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,123 in Taichung City, 2,735 in Taipei City, 2,637 in Taoyuan City, 2,433 in Kaohsiung City, 2,141 in Tainan City, 1,270 in Changhua County, 869 in Hsinchu County, 704 in Hsinchu City, 675 in Miaoli County, 488 in Yunlin County, 463 in Pingtung County, 426 in Chiayi County, 390 in Nantou County, 345 in Yilan County, 275 in Keelung City, 235 in Chiayi City, 186 in Hualien County, 138 in Kinmen County, 118 in Taitung County, 56 in Penghu County, and 3 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the seven deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were one man and six women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 71 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 26 and December 26, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,648,632 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,909,568. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,738,114 cases. Of the 8,738,114 confirmed cases, 39,570 are imported; 8,698,490 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 15,120 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 15,120 deaths, 15,103 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
