CECC confirms 6 more imported COVID-19 cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from France, Indonesia, and the US

On December 2, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 6 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Among those 6 new cases (Cases #681-686), three came to Taiwan from Indonesia, two traveled from the United States, and one arrived from France.

Case #681 and Case #682 are an over 40-year-old female and an over 20-year-old female, respectively. They both are from Indonesia. The two Indonesian women visited Taiwan for work on November 17. They haven't developed any symptoms since arrival. They were tested for COVID-19 on November 30 before completing the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on December 2.

Case #683 is an over 20-year-old male migrant worker from Indonesia. The male migrant worker hasn't developed any suspected symptoms since arrival. After completing the quarantine period on November 29, he took a self-paid COVID-19 test. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 2.

Case #684 is a Taiwanese man in his 30s. He resided in the United States for an extended period of time. He returned to Taiwan on November 22 and stayed at a quarantine hotel after entry. During his stay at the quarantine hotel, he developed an abnormal sense of smell. The health authority then arranged for him to seek medical attention and take a COVID-19 test on November 26. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 2.

Case #685 is a Cypriot man in his 40s. The Cypriot man arrived in Taiwan from the United States on November 29. Upon arrival, he was found to have an abnormal temperature, and his specimen was collected for COVID-19 testing. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 2.

Case #686 is an over 50-year-old man from France. The French man arrived in Taiwan on November 20 and stayed at a quarantine hotel after entry. He experienced a sore throat on November 27, and the health authority then arranged his COVID-19 test and medical care. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on December 2.
