On May 16, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that it has adjusted the home isolation policy for family members living in the same residence as confirmed COVID-19 cases, effective from May 17. Under this new policy, live-in family members who have received three vaccine shots will no longer be required to undergo home isolation and can undergo a seven-day self-initiated epidemic prevention instead. Details about this policy are listed below.

A. Individuals who have got three doses: can be exempted from home isolation, but instead should undergo a seven-day self-initiated epidemic prevention. During this seven-day period, self-initiated measures should be observed, and proof of a negative result from an at-home rapid test taken within two days should be presented if they need to go out to work or buy daily necessities; resting at home and taking a rapid test are advised if symptoms appear.

B. Individuals who have not received three doses: the protocol of "three days of home isolation plus four days of self-initiated epidemic prevention" remains in place. During the isolation period, going outside is prohibited. During the self-initiated epidemic prevention period, proof of a negative result from an at-home rapid test taken within two days should be presented if they need to go out to work or buy daily necessities; resting at home and taking a rapid test are advised if symptoms appear.
