To provide the public a convenient channel for communicable disease reporting and consultation, the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (Taiwan CDC) has operated an easy-to-remember, toll-free hotline 1922 since 2003, which provides 24-hour service on disease reporting, communicable disease consultation, prevention policy promotion and control measure education to the public throughout the year.In 2010, a total of 1,422 incoming calls were received.The toll-free hotline will remain in operation even during the Chinese New Year holiday.
To reach more people in need of the toll free hotline regardless of their location, while overseas, people can dial another consultation service number: 0800-024582 that is accessible from everywhere in the world and will be re-directed to the Taiwan CDC toll-free hotline, 1922.
The services and assistance of the toll-free hotline 1922 are not only available to Mandarin-speaking, Taiwanese-speaking and English-speaking populations, but also to Hakka-speaking and deaf populations.People who are deaf or hard of hearing can access 1922 through forwarding their questions concerning communicable diseases to the toll-free facsimile number: 0800-001922 or to cdc1922@cht.com.tw.The 1922 hotline operator will answer as soon as possible.
To further improve the service quality of the first line personnel, Taiwan CDC asks and encourages all callers of 1922 to complete a satisfaction survey at the end of a call.
