On January 3, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced four new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those four new cases arrived in Taiwan from the United Kingdom (Case #810), Germany (Case #811), the United States (Case #812), and Eswatini (Case #813).

Case #810 is a Taiwanese woman in her 20s. The Taiwanese woman traveled to the United Kingdom for studies in August 2020 and returned to Taiwan on December 31. Upon arrival, she voluntarily notified airport quarantine officers that she experienced an itchy throat. Her specimen was then collected for COVID-19 testing at the airport. Because she later experienced a fever, the woman was given another test. Both of the test results came back positive. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 3, 2021.

Case #811 is a Taiwanese woman in her 20s. She traveled to Germany for studies in September 2020 and returned to Taiwan on December 28. During the home quarantine period, she developed a sore throat on December 31. The health authority then arranged for her to seek medical care and undergo a COVID-19 test. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 3, 2021.

Case #812 is a Taiwanese man in his 60s. The Taiwanese man traveled to the United States to visit his family members in October 2020 and returned to Taiwan on December 27. During the home quarantine period, he began to experience pains all over his body, a fever, and other symptoms from December 29 to December 31. The health authority arranged for him to seek medical attention and undergo a COVID-19 test on January 1, 2021. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 3.

Case #813 is an over 30-year-old man from Eswatini. The man came to Taiwan to work on December 24, 2020. During the home quarantine period, he experienced a headache, runny nose, and other symptoms on December 31. The health authority arranged for him to seek medical attention and undergo a COVID-19 test on January 1, 2021. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on January 3.
