CECC confirms 16,741 more COVID-19 cases, including 16,694 domestic cases and 47 imported cases

On December 7, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 16,741 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 16,741 new cases, 16,694 are domestic and 47 are imported. The CECC announced 26 deaths today.

Regarding the 16,694 new domestic cases, 7,575 are male and 9,096 are female, while the gender of the other 23 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,758 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,213 in Taichung City, 2,032 in Kaohsiung City, 1,941 in Taoyuan City, 1,507 in Taipei City, 1,220 in Tainan City, 937 in Changhua County, 616 in Hsinchu County, 559 in Hsinchu City, 526 in Pingtung County, 447 in Miaoli County, 340 in Yunlin County, 271 in Chiayi County, 268 in Nantou County, 254 in Yilan County, 216 in Hualien County, 203 in Keelung City, 173 in Chiayi City, 95 in Taitung County, 70 in Kinmen County, 43 in Penghu County, and five in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 26 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 21 men and five women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 47 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 7 and December 6, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,234,478 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,821,357. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,412,200 cases. Of the 8,412,200 confirmed cases, 38,034 are imported; 8,374,112 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,548 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,548 deaths, 14,531 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
