CECC confirms 10,853 more COVID-19 cases, including 10,824 domestic cases and 29 imported cases

On December 12, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 10,853 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 10,853 new cases, 10,824 are domestic and 29 are imported. The CECC announced 31 deaths today.

Regarding the 10,824 new domestic cases, 4,980 are male and 5,836 are female, while the gender of the other eight cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 1,697 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,528 in Taichung City, 1,333 in Taoyuan City, 1,197 in Kaohsiung City, 1,057 in Taipei City, 871 in Tainan City, 622 in Changhua County, 403 in Hsinchu County, 322 in Hsinchu City, 265 in Miaoli County, 258 in Pingtung County, 248 in Yunlin County, 207 in Nantou County, 165 in Chiayi County, 129 in Hualien County, 123 in Yilan County, 122 in Keelung City, 106 in Chiayi City, 66 in Kinmen County, 64 in Taitung County, 38 in Penghu County, and three in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 31 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 16 men and 15 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 29 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 13 and December 10, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,324,496 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,842,536. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,481,040 cases. Of the 8,481,040 confirmed cases, 38,300 are imported; 8,442,686 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,710 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,710 deaths, 14,693 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
