CECC confirms 6 more COVID-19 cases, including 1 domestic case and 5 imported cases

On October 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced six new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the six new cases, one is domestic and the other five are imported. The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the new domestic case, Case #16451 is an over 60-year-old male. He experienced a fever and other symptoms on October 16. He then sought medical attention and was tested for COVID-19 on October 17. He was admitted to a hospital after testing positive (the CT value was 33.1; he tested negative after given two RT-PCR tests, and he tested positive for IgG and IgM antibodies). Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on October 19.

Regarding the five new imported cases, they are four men and one woman, aged between 10 to 59 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from the US (two cases), the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines, and Malaysia. They arrived between October 5 and October 17.

The CECC reported that a total of 3,760,750 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 3,743,687. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,343 cases. Of the 16,343 confirmed cases, 1,704 are imported; 14,585 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 846 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 846 deaths, 834 are from domestic cases and the other 12 are from imported cases
