CECC confirms 40,025 more COVID-19 cases, including 39,769 domestic cases and 256 imported cases

On September 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 40,025 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 40,025 new cases, 39,769 are domestic and 256 are imported. The CECC announced 41 deaths today.

Regarding the 39,769 new domestic cases, 18,246 are male and 21,503 are female, while the gender of the other 20 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 8,525 were reported in New Taipei City, 5,177 in Taichung City, 4,533 in Taipei City, 4,153 in Taoyuan City, 3,421 in Kaohsiung City, 2,509 in Tainan City, 2,005 in Changhua County, 1,069 in Hsinchu County, 1,056 in Pingtung County, 934 in Hsinchu City, 928 in Miaoli County, 914 in Yilan County, 895 in Yunlin County, 723 in Nantou County, 666 in Chiayi County, 659 in Keelung City, 573 in Hualien County, 417 in Chiayi City, 344 in Taitung County, 150 in Kinmen County, 93 in Penghu County, and 25 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 41 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 24 men and 17 women ranging in age from 20 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 256 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between August 23 and September 22, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 17,458,358 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,278,230. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 6,172,769 cases. Of the 6,172,769 confirmed cases, 33,361 are imported; 6,139,354 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 10,743 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 10,743 deaths, 10,727 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
