CECC confirms 26,761 more COVID-19 cases, including 26,409 domestic cases and 352 imported cases

On August 26, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 26,761 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 26,761 new cases, 26,409 are domestic and 352 are imported. The CECC announced 45 deaths today.

Regarding the 26,409 new domestic cases, 11,988 are male and 14,415 are female, while the gender of the other six cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 5,680 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,041 in Taipei City, 2,994 in Taichung City, 2,954 in Taoyuan City, 2,102 in Kaohsiung City, 1,624 in Tainan City, 1,084 in Changhua County, 865 in Hsinchu County, 779 in Hsinchu City, 755 in Miaoli County, 671 in Pingtung County, 606 in Yilan County, 595 in Yunlin County, 511 in Hualien County, 495 in Keelung City, 397 in Chiayi County, 394 in Nantou County, 279 in Chiayi City, 262 in Taitung County, 144 in Penghu County, 121 in Kinmen County, and 56 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 45 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 21 men and 24 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 352 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 26 and August 25, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 15,944,505 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,767,733. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 5,168,997 cases. Of the 5,168,997 confirmed cases, 26,425 are imported; 5,142,518 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,773 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,773 deaths, 9,757 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
