On July 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 33 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 33 new cases, 30 are domestic and the other three are imported. The CECC also announced four deaths today.

The CECC pointed out that of the 30 domestic cases (of whom, 20 tested positive while they were in home isolation or completed their isolation period), 15 are men and the other 15 are women, aged between under 5 to 79 years old. They began to suffer the onset of symptoms between July 17 and July 21, 2021. Regarding those domestic cases, Taipei City and New Taipei City reported the most cases, both at 11, and Taoyuan City had the second highest number, at 7. Hsinchu City reported 1 case.

Regarding the four deaths announced today, they were two men and two women between 60 and 79 years old.

Regarding the three new imported cases, Case #15601 is a Taiwanese boy under the age of 10. He returned to Taiwan from China on July 8. He was tested on July 20 before completing the quarantine period, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on July 22.

Case #15612 is an American man in his 20s. He traveled to Taiwan from the US for work on July 20. He was tested for COVID-19 at the airport, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on July 22.

Case #15617 is a Taiwanese male in his 20s. He returned to Taiwan from United Arab Emirates (Dubai) on July 20. He experienced coughing, dizziness and elevated temperature on July 21. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on July 22.

The CECC reported that a total of 1,852,658 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 1,835,679. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 15,511 cases. Of the 15,511 confirmed cases, 1,253 are imported; 14,205 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 2 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 106 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 782 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 782 deaths, 774 are from domestic cases and the other 8 are from imported cases.
