On September 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 12 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 12 new cases, one is domestic and the other 11 are imported. The CECC reported one death today.

Regarding the new domestic case (Case #16251), the case is an over 60-year-old female who came into contact with a confirmed case (Case #16227). She was given a COVID-19 test by the health authority on September 17. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on September 19.

Regarding the 11 new imported cases, they are five men and six women, aged between 10 to 59 years old. They arrived in Taiwan from Russia, the US (two cases), Honduras, Canada, the Czech Republic, Poland, Myanmar, and South Africa (two cases), and Cambodia. They arrived between September 5 and September 17.

Regarding the one death announced today, the case (Case #15745) was an over 70-year-old Taiwanese male.

The CECC reported that a total of 3,142,093 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 3,124,360. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 16,141 cases. Of the 16,141 confirmed cases, 1,511 are imported; 14,576 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 110 cases have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 840 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 840 deaths, 829 are from domestic cases and the other 11 are from imported cases
