On February 8, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 48 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 48 new cases, 26 are domestic and 22 are imported (nine of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are seven men and 19 women, aged between under five and 59 years.

Regarding the 22 new imported cases, 12 are male and nine are female while the gender of the other one case is being investigated. They are between under five and 59 years old. 15 of them arrived in Taiwan from India (five cases), Canada (three cases), the Philippines (two cases), the Netherlands (two cases), the UAE, the US, and Ukraine; the areas where the remaining seven cases arrived are being investigated. They all arrived between January 24 and February 7, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 5,816,835 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 5,797,056. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 19,239 cases. Of the 19,239 confirmed cases, 3,957 are imported; 15,228 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 130 cases (one newly added) have been removed from the list of confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 851 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 851 deaths, 838 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
