In response to the ongoing outbreak of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in China and other countries, Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) convened a meeting of related authorities to discuss prevention efforts to be carried out at the level of local government January 31, 2020. Furthermore, participating experts emphasized that healthy students don’t need to wear face masks and recommended local governments to reinforce the propagation of three situations that require face masks. The three situations are when individuals visit a doctor, accompany a patient for a doctor appointment and visit a patient; when individuals are sick with symptoms of respiratory infections; and when individuals with chronic diseases go outside.  

On the other hand, CECC announced one more imported case 2019-nCoV infection. The case is the husband of case #9 (announced on January 30, 2020) who is in his 40s. He initially was identified as a contact. Further investigation conducted by health units found that he went to Wuhan, China for work in September of 2019. He returned to Taiwan on January 12, 2020 and developed symptoms of upper respiratory infection on January 21. On January 22, he was diagnosed with having the common cold after hospitalized and found not having pneumonia. Health units collected his samples on January 30. On January 31, he tested positive for 2019-nCoV. Thus, it is determined that case #9 contracted the novel virus through her husband, and it is a case of household clustering caused by the imported case.
