Influenza A (H1N1) to strike Taiwan inevitably, Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) orders local command centers to conduct pandemic preparedness drill

In light of continuously expanding influenza A (H1N1) outbreaks, the commanding officer of the CECC, Minister of Health Ching-Chuan Yeh instructed the local command centers to conduct a drill simulating the occurrence of the first case of influenza A (H1N1) in Taiwan on May 1, 2009.

According to the drill plan devised by the central government, there are two different types of drills, tabletop drills and actual drills.Over the past few years, the local governments have conducted several pandemic preparedness drills.Therefore, the local governments are all familiar with the drills.These drills have included activities such as the operation of the “Infectious Disease Prevention Network”, the logistics of medical resources and personal protective equipment, community response and mobilization, and the continuity of government during a pandemic.
