CECC confirms 46,902 more COVID-19 cases, including 46,673 domestic cases and 229 imported cases

On September 21, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 46,902 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 46,902 new cases, 46,673 are domestic and 229 are imported. The CECC announced 39 deaths today.

Regarding the 46,673 new domestic cases, 21,557 are male and 25,092 are female, while the gender of the other 24 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 10,252 were reported in New Taipei City, 5,913 in Taichung City, 5,705 in Taipei City, 5,200 in Taoyuan City, 3,593 in Kaohsiung City, 2,620 in Tainan City, 2,160 in Changhua County, 1,416 in Hsinchu County, 1,209 in Hsinchu City, 1,125 in Yilan County, 1,106 in Miaoli County, 1,049 in Pingtung County, 993 in Yunlin County, 955 in Keelung City, 848 in Nantou County, 731 in Hualien County, 654 in Chiayi County, 432 in Chiayi City, 394 in Taitung County, 162 in Kinmen County, 135 in Penghu County, and 21 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 39 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 21 men and 18 women ranging in age from under five to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 229 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between August 21 and September 20, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 17,340,788 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,242,749. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 6,090,373 cases. Of the 6,090,373 confirmed cases, 32,877 are imported; 6,057,442 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 10,643 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 10,643 deaths, 10,627 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
