On September 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 48,613 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 48,613 new cases, 48,421 are domestic and 192 are imported. The CECC announced 38 deaths today.

Regarding the 48,421 new domestic cases, 22,323 are male and 26,074 are female, while the gender of the other 24 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 10,203 were reported in New Taipei City, 6,238 in Taichung City, 5,470 in Taoyuan City, 5,437 in Taipei City, 4,380 in Kaohsiung City, 2,947 in Tainan City, 2,298 in Changhua County, 1,372 in Hsinchu County, 1,224 in Pingtung County, 1,223 in Hsinchu City, 1,141 in Miaoli County, 1,060 in Yunlin County, 1,056 in Yilan County, 952 in Nantou County, 867 in Keelung City, 851 in Chiayi County, 589 in Hualien County, 463 in Chiayi City, 338 in Taitung County, 163 in Kinmen County, 138 in Penghu County, and 11 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 38 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 24 men and 14 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 192 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between August 29 and September 27, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 17,740,672 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,360,441. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 6,373,121 cases. Of the 6,373,121 confirmed cases, 34,453 are imported; 6,338,614 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 10,950 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 10,950 deaths, 10,934 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
