On August 26, 2009, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) called an emergency meeting, which was convened by Professor Fu-Yuan Huang.The meeting primarily discussed the pandemic influenza A (H1N1) vaccine priority list.The priority list names targeted groups in the following order: 1. Health care and public health personnel, 2. Pregnant women, 3. Preschool children aged between 1 through 6 years (the pandemic influenza A (H1N1) vaccine manufactured by Adimmune Corporation is suitable for use in children aged 1 year and older), 4. People with major illness/injury (aged 7 years and older), 5. Elementary school students (aged between 7 through 12 years), 6. Middle school students (aged between 13 through 15 years), 7. High school students (aged between 16 through 18 years), 8. People aged between 19 through 24 years, 9. People with cardiovascular and pulmonary disease, liver disease, kidney disease, and diabetes (aged 25 years and older), 10. Healthy adults aged between 25 through 49 years, 11. Healthy adults aged 50 through 64 years, and 12. Elderly people aged 65 and older.
On the other hand, the Committee members also reached another decision during the meeting. Once the pandemic influenza A (H1N1) vaccines become available, they will be provided to the people who are affected by Typhoon Morakot and currently stay in emergency shelters.
The Committee members who attended the emergency meeting held on August 26, 2009 included Dr. Chin-Yun Lee, Dr. Tzou-Yen Lin, Professor Ching-Chuan Liu, Dr. Li-Min Huang, Dr. Ping-Ing Lee, Prof. Ding-Shinn Chen, Dr. Mei-Hwei Chang, Dr. Luan-Yin Chang, Dr. Chyong-Hsin Hsu, Prof. Wei-Chuan Hsieh, Prof. Wu-Tse Liu, Dr. Shu-Jen Chen, Dr. Chih-Jen Tseng, Dr. San-Lin You, and Dr. Yhu-Chering Huang.
