CECC confirms 23,919 more COVID-19 cases, including 23,718 domestic cases and 201 imported cases

On August 3, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 23,919 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 23,919 new cases, 23,718 are domestic and 201 are imported. The CECC announced 32 deaths today.

Regarding the 23,718 new domestic cases, 10,928 are male and 12,738 are female, while the gender of the other seven cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,406 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,980 in Taichung City, 2,562 in Taoyuan City, 2,427 in Taipei City, 2,214 in Kaohsiung City, 1,880 in Tainan City, 1,009 in Changhua County, 721 in Hsinchu County, 696 in Miaoli County, 651 in Pingtung County, 625 in Hsinchu City, 584 in Yunlin County, 510 in Yilan County, 427 in Chiayi County, 393 in Nantou County, 392 in Keelung City, 356 in Hualien County, 322 in Chiayi City, 266 in Taitung County, 144 in Penghu County, 140 in Kinmen County, and 13 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 32 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 20 men and 12 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 201 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 6 and August 2, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 14,959,806 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,300,058. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,652,186 cases. Of the 4,652,186 confirmed cases, 20,724 are imported; 4,631,408 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,026 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,026 deaths, 9,011 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
