CECC confirms 25,386 more COVID-19 cases, including 25,270 domestic cases and 116 imported cases

On January 1, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 25,386 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 25,386 new cases, 25,270 are domestic and 116 are imported. The CECC announced 20 (including one imported case) deaths today.

Regarding the 25,270 new domestic cases, 11,406 are male and 13,840 are female, while the gender of the other 24 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 5,334 were reported in New Taipei City, 3,419 in Taichung City, 2,860 in Taipei City, 2,728 in Taoyuan City, 2,398 in Kaohsiung City, 2,053 in Tainan City, 1,145 in Changhua County, 896 in Hsinchu County, 765 in Hsinchu City, 549 in Miaoli County, 475 in Pingtung County, 462 in Yunlin County, 418 in Keelung City, 373 in Nantou County, 330 in Chiayi County, 328 in Yilan County, 217 in Hualien County, 205 in Chiayi City, 126 in Kinmen County, 116 in Taitung County, 69 in Penghu County, and four in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 19 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 12 men and seven women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 116 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between December 1 and December 30, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,806,311 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,932,635. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,872,746 cases. Of the 8,872,746 confirmed cases, 40,307 are imported; 8,832,385 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 15,273 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 15,273 deaths, 15,255 are from domestic cases and the other 18 are from imported cases.
