On September 4, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 34,358 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 34,358 new cases, 34,126 are domestic and 232 are imported. The CECC announced 35 deaths today.
Regarding the 34,126 new domestic cases, 15,771 are male and 18,347 are female, while the gender of the other eight cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 7,636 were reported in New Taipei City, 4,219 in Taipei City, 3,973 in Taichung City, 3,918 in Taoyuan City, 2,555 in Kaohsiung City, 2,040 in Tainan City, 1,403 in Changhua County, 1,034 in Hsinchu County, 1,024 in Hsinchu City, 829 in Pingtung County, 818 in Miaoli County, 750 in Keelung City, 727 in Yilan County, 647 in Hualien County, 630 in Yunlin County, 529 in Nantou County, 474 in Chiayi County, 324 in Chiayi City, 278 in Taitung County, 163 in Penghu County, 135 in Kinmen County, and 20 in Lienchiang County.
Regarding the 35 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 19 men and 16 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.
Regarding the 232 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between August 6 and September 3, 2022.
The CECC reported that a total of 16,397,567 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,947,760. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 5,442,981 cases. Of the 5,442,981 confirmed cases, 28,905 are imported; 5,414,022 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 10,063 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 10,063 deaths, 10,047 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
