CECC confirms 3 more indigenous cases; contacts of confirmed cases found to have COVID-19

On April 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced three new confirmed indigenous cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the three new cases, one (Case #1112) is a family member of two imported cases and doesn't live with the imported case, and the other two (Case #1113 and Case #1114) are family members of and lives with pilots for an airline company who were confirmed yesterday to test positive for antibodies.

Case #1112 is a Taiwanese male in his 70s. He is a family member and doesn't live with two imported cases (Case #1068 and Case #1106). He had no recent history of international travel. When Case #1068 was in home quarantine, Case #1112 spent half an hour at Case #1068's residence. He also helped deliver meals to Case #1106 when Case #1106 was placed under home isolation. The health authority arranged for Case #1112 to undergo testing on April 26 as he was identified as a contact, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 28 (the CT value was 26). The CECC pointed out that Case #1112 visited some public venues in Taoyuan City. The venues he visited are listed below. Members of the public who have visited those locations during the time periods mentioned below are reminded to practice self-health management for 14 days. If suspected symptoms develop, members of the public must put on a mask and voluntarily inform the physician of any history of contact and activity.

Case #1113 is a Taiwanese male in his teens. He is a family member of and lives with a pilot for the airline company who was confirmed yesterday to test positive for antibodies. The teenager had no recent history of international travel. The health authority arranged for him to undergo testing on April 26 as he was identified as a contact, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 28 (the CT value was 36; he had a CT value of 41 the next day, and he tested negative for IgM and positive for IgG).

Case #1114 is a Taiwanese female in her 40s. She is a family member of and lives with a pilot for the airline company who was confirmed yesterday to test positive for antibodies. She had no recent history of international travel. The health authority arranged for her to undergo testing on April 26 as she was identified as a contact, and infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on April 28 (the CT value was 34; she tested negative after given an RT-PCR test the next day, and she tested negative for IgM and positive for IgG).
