CECC confirms 4 more imported COVID-19 cases; cases arrive in Taiwan from the US and Malaysia

On February 24, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced four new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Among those four new cases (Cases #944-947), three arrived in Taiwan from the United States and one traveled from Malaysia.

Case #944 is an over 30-year-old male from the United States. The American man tested positive for COVID-19 in his home country on January 5. He was later given three tests on January 26, January 27, and February 3, respectively, and all of the test results came back negative. The American traveled to Taiwan on February 5. He hasn't experienced any symptoms since arrival. He completed the quarantine period on February 21 and visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on February 22. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 24.

Case #945 is a Taiwanese woman in her 30s. The Taiwanese woman tested positive for COVID-19 while she was in the United States. After her symptoms improved, she later tested negative on December 30, 2020. She returned to Taiwan on January 3, 2021. The woman hasn't experienced any symptoms since arrival. As she planned to leave Taiwan, she visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on February 22. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 24.

Case #946 is a Taiwanese man in his 40s. The Taiwanese man was admitted to an isolation ward after testing positive for COVID-19 in November 2020. After he was discharged and tested negative on January 14 and January 17, 2021, he returned to Taiwan on January 29. He hasn't experienced any symptoms since arrival. As he planned to leave Taiwan, he visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on February 21. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 24.

Case #947 is a Taiwanese woman in her 20s. She tested positive for COVID-19 in the US on December 2, 2020. After testing negative twice, she returned to Taiwan on January 9. This Taiwanese woman hasn't experienced any symptoms since arrival. As she planned to leave Taiwan, she visited the hospital to take a self-paid test on February 22. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on February 24.
