CECC confirms 3 more imported COVID-19 cases; three Indonesian migrant workers found to have COVID-19 before end of quarantine period

On November 29, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 3 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Those 3 new cases (Cases #650-652) are all migrant workers from Indonesia.

Case #650 and Case #652 are an over 40-year-old female and an over 30-year-old female, respectively. They both came from Indonesia to Taiwan to work on November 14. The two female migrant workers have not developed any symptoms since arrival. They were tested for COVID-19 on November 27 before completing the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the cases on November 29.

Case #651 is an over 20-year-old female from Indonesia. She traveled to Taiwan from her home country on November 14. The woman developed an abnormal sense of smell at a group quarantine facility on November 24. She only experienced the symptom for a short period of time, and she didn't develop any other symptoms, only experiencing a mild symptom; thus, she didn't report her symptom. She was tested for COVID-19 on November 27 before completing the quarantine period. Infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in the case on November 29.

The CECC reported that a cumulative total of 110,092 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 108,312. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 651 cases. Of the 651 confirmed cases, 559 are imported; 55 are indigenous; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 1 case has unknown sources of infection; and 1 case (Case #530) has been removed (Case #530 is not assigned to any patients). Of the confirmed cases, there have been 7 deaths, and 565 patients have been released from isolation, with the other 79 patients remaining hospitalized in isolation.
