On February 17, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 68 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 68 new cases, 14 are domestic and 54 are imported (30 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are five men and nine women, aged between under five and 99 years.

Regarding the 54 new imported cases, they are 38 men and 16 women, aged between under five and 79 years. Of the cases, nine arrived from the US, three from Vietnam, two each from Australia, France, and India, and one each from the Philippines, Ukraine, Chad, the UK, New Zealand, Malaysia, Japan, and Cambodia; the areas the remaining 28 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between December 24, 2021, and February 16, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,080,937 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,060,668. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 19,797 cases. Of the 19,797 confirmed cases, 4,390 are imported; 15,353 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 134 cases (three newly added; the domestic cases were removed due to negative results) have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 852 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 852 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 13 are from imported cases.
