Central Epidemic Command Center thanks people in Taiwan for writing a new chapter in history of disease prevention

The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that the campaign to vaccinate the entire population in Taiwan against pandemic influenza A (H1N1) that began on December 12, 2009 went smoothly.The nationwide campaign marked a significant milestone in Taiwan’s history of disease prevention.

According to the statistics compiled by the local health unit in each city and county, the number of H1N1 vaccinations has approximately reached 0.5 million.Since the vaccination campaign is still ongoing, the total number of vaccination will be confirmed on December 13, 2009.

At the time of writing, a total of 15 people have experienced needle shock after receiving the vaccination and their symptoms have all subsided after resting. None of them were sent to the hospital for further medical assistance.In addition, no ambulance was sent for any event associated with H1N1 vaccination.

As of 5pm on December 12, 2009, the total number of calls received by the Communicable Disease Reporting and Consultation Hotline, 1922, reached 7865. A few callers complained about the flow of the H1N1 vaccination process, the line to get vaccinated, and the lack of personnel to guide the vaccination process, which were all corrected immediately.

Premier Wu of the Executive Yuan and several local magistrates and mayors visited the vaccination sites to support the vaccination campaign and encourage the personnel.
