CECC confirms 43,307 more COVID-19 cases, including 43,241 domestic cases and 66 imported cases

On October 2, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 43,307 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 43,307 new cases, 43,241 are domestic and 66 are imported. The CECC announced 62 deaths today.

Regarding the 43,241 new domestic cases, 20,227 are male and 23,000 are female, while the gender of the other 14 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 8,789 were reported in New Taipei City, 5,475 in Taichung City, 4,848 in Taipei City, 4,661 in Taoyuan City, 3,932 in Kaohsiung City, 3,025 in Tainan City, 2,337 in Changhua County, 1,217 in Hsinchu County, 1,131 in Yilan County, 1,109 in Pingtung County, 1,056 in Hsinchu City, 1,009 in Miaoli County, 889 in Yunlin County, 767 in Keelung City, 750 in Chiayi County, 652 in Nantou County, 562 in Hualien County, 424 in Chiayi City, 358 in Taitung County, 131 in Kinmen County, 99 in Penghu County, and 20 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 62 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 39 men and 23 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 66 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between September 1 and October 1, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 17,964,572 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,414,088. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 6,547,708 cases. Of the 6,547,708 confirmed cases, 34,972 are imported; 6,512,682 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 11,163 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 11,163 deaths, 11,147 are from domestic cases and the other 16 are from imported cases.
