Starting on October 3, Moderna's next-generation bivalent vaccine available to eligible persons in second phase

On September 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that, starting October 3, Moderna's next-generation bivalent COVID-19 vaccine will be available to eligible individuals as a booster shot in the second phase of its rollout program. A minimum interval of 12 weeks (84days) is recommended between this vaccine and the last dose of a primary series vaccination/additional dose or the previous booster dose.

Eligibility in the second phase is listed below.
1. Medical personnel;
2. Airport/port workers, quarantine-related workers, airline/vessel crew members, and workers in care institutions and social welfare system;
3. People aged 50 to 64;
4. Those aged 18 and older who need to travel abroad for diplomatic, public affairs, business, or work-related reasons.

The CECC pointed out that eligibility for the bivalent vaccine will be expanded to those aged 18 and older who need to travel abroad for diplomatic, public affairs, business, or work-related reason in the second phase. The CECC reminded that such an eligible individual should bring the invitation given by the institution inviting him or her, the approval letter issued by the competent authority of the respective business, or proof detailing business travel approved by his or her company (one of the above three) and the flight ticket, in addition to his or her NHI card and COVID-19 Vaccination Record, for identity verification at the vaccination site.
