On October 26, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 40,317 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 40,317 new cases, 40,261 are domestic and 56 are imported. The CECC announced 52 deaths today.

Regarding the 40,261 new domestic cases, 18,558 are male and 21,685 are female, while the gender of the other 18 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 7,066 were reported in New Taipei City, 5,391 in Taichung City, 4,789 in Kaohsiung City, 4,053 in Taoyuan City, 3,939 in Taipei City, 3,597 in Tainan City, 2,094 in Changhua County, 1,419 in Pingtung County, 948 in Hsinchu County, 917 in Hsinchu City, 902 in Yunlin County, 849 in Miaoli County, 759 in Chiayi County, 736 in Nantou County, 654 in Keelung City, 652 in Yilan County, 479 in Hualien County, 448 in Chiayi City, 275 in Taitung County, 185 in Kinmen County, 103 in Penghu County, and six in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 52 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 20 men and 32 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 56 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between September 27 and October 24, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 19,167,156 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,608,510. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 7,555,884 cases. Of the 7,555,884 confirmed cases, 36,174 are imported; 7,519,656 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 12,479 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 12,479 deaths, 12,462 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
