On April 19, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 1,727 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 1,727 new cases, 1,626 are domestic and 101 are imported (89 of them tested positive upon landing). The CECC announced two deaths today.

Regarding the 1,626 new domestic cases, they are 825 men and 801 women ranging in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between April 1 and April 19, while 800 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 583 were reported in New Taipei City, 287 in Taipei City, 197 in Taoyuan City, 148 in Keelung City, 74 in Hualien County, 64 in Kaohsiung City, 61 in Yilan County, 50 in Taichung City, 45 in Tainan City, 27 in Hsinchu City, 20 in Hsinchu County, 17 in Pingtung County, 12 each in Miaoli County and Changhua County, eight each in Yunlin County and Taitung County, four in Nantou County, three each in Chiayi County and Lianjiang County, two in Chiayi City and one in Penghu.

Regarding the two deaths announced today, the cases were an over 90-year-old man and a boy under five.

Regarding the 101 new imported cases, they are 42 men and 59 women ranging in age from under five to 59 years. Of the cases, one each from China, the UK, Australia, and the US; the areas the remaining 97 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 8 and April 18, 2022. Additionally, domestic case #33593 announced on April 17 and domestic cases #35823 and #35890 have been reclassified as imported cases after epidemiological investigations found they had arrived from Malaysia, Myanmar and the US.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,777,985 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,739,719. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 37,710 cases. Of the 37,710 confirmed cases, 9,889 are imported; 27,767 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 198 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 856 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 856 deaths, 842 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
