On July 28, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 23,971 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 23,971 new cases, 23,822 are domestic and 149 are imported. The CECC announced 62 deaths today.

Regarding the 23,822 new domestic cases, 11,056 are male and 12,757 are female, while the gender of the other nine cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,168 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,940 in Taichung City, 2,460 in Taipei City, 2,385 in Taoyuan City, 2,340 in Kaohsiung City, 1,898 in Tainan City, 1,137 in Changhua County, 712 in Miaoli County, 699 in Pingtung County, 689 in Hsinchu County, 592 in Yunlin County, 580 in Hsinchu City, 536 in Yilan County, 456 in Hualien County, 438 in Keelung City, 431 in Nantou County, 429 in Chiayi County, 281 in Chiayi City, 276 in Taitung County, 200 in Kinmen County, 155 in Penghu County, and 20 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 62 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 36 men and 26 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 149 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between June 28 and July 27, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 14,712,215 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,181,650. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,522,365 cases. Of the 4,522,365 confirmed cases, 19,265 are imported; 4,503,046 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 8,776 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 8,776 deaths, 8,761 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
