CECC confirms 14,387 more COVID-19 cases, including 14,083 domestic cases and 304 imported cases

On February 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 14,387 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 14,387 new cases, 14,083 are domestic and 304 are imported. The CECC announced 37 deaths (including one imported case) today.

Regarding the 14,083 new domestic cases, 6,386 are male and 7,688 are female, while the gender of the other nine cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 2,685 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,691 in Taoyuan City, 1,718 in Kaohsiung City, 1,555 in Taichung City, 1,251 in Tainan City, 1,277 in Taipei City, 659 in Changhua County, 390 in Hsinchu County, 384 in Pingtung County, 290 in Yunlin County, 338 in Hsinchu City, 322 in Miaoli County, 235 in Keelung City, 315 in Yilan County, 211 in Nantou County, 236 in Hualien County, 225 in Chiayi County, 132 in Chiayi City, 92 in Taitung County, 39 in Kinmen County, 31 in Penghu County, and seven in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 37 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 19 men and 18 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 304 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between January 23 to February 21.

The CECC data showed that since 2020, there have been a cumulative total of 9,985,320 confirmed cases and a cumulative total of 17,709 COVID-19 deaths in Taiwan.
