According to the Central Epidemic Command Center for influenza A (H1N1), influenza A (H1N1) has been included in the list of Category I Notifiable Infectious Disease in order to require clinicians to report human infections with influenza A (H1N1) within 24 hours.The internet-based reporting system for reporting influenza A (H1N1) cases has been set up and the website is: https://ida4.cdc.gov.tw/hospital/ .In addition, cases of influenza A (H1N1) can also be reported by fax or telephone.Prior to reporting a case, the clinician should make appropriate explanation concerning the situation and provide relevant health education to the patient and the family.
Since April 26, 2009, the number of calls received by the Communicable Disease Reporting and Consultation Hotline, 1922, operated by the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (Taiwan CDC) has multiplied.A total of 566 calls was received on April 28, 2009.Most inquiries were made concerning travel restrictions, basic information about the disease, major symptoms of the disease and prevention measures.
Taiwan CDC has compiled lists of the most common questions asked by clinicians and the general public and posted “10 Frequently Asked Questions by Clinicians” and “5 Frequently Asked Questions by General Public” on its website for reference and download.
To prevent influenza A (H1N1) from entering Taiwan, Taiwan CDC has begun implementing onboard quarantine inspection of certain flights arriving from the United States and Canada.As of now, 1474 passengers on nine different flights have been inspected and none of them was found to display fever-like symptoms.On the other hand, the fever screening system at the airport has thus far identified two passengers with a fever, but quarantine officials have eliminated influenza A(H1N1) in both cases after further evaluation.
