On December 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 10,244 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 10,244 new cases, 10,209 are domestic and 35 are imported. The CECC announced 22 deaths today.

Regarding the 10,209 new domestic cases, 4,723 are male and 5,479 are female, while the gender of the other seven cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 1,518 were reported in New Taipei City, 1,418 in Taichung City, 1,245 in Kaohsiung City, 1,199 in Taoyuan City, 868 in Taipei City, 714 in Tainan City, 677 in Changhua County, 396 in Hsinchu County, 327 in Pingtung County, 326 in Hsinchu City, 266 in Miaoli County, 250 in Yunlin County, 185 in Chiayi County, 168 in Nantou County, 157 in Hualien County, 135 in Yilan County, 120 in Keelung City, 84 in Chiayi City, 79 in Taitung County, 44 in Kinmen County, 31 in Penghu County, and two in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 22 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 11 men and 11 women ranging in age from 50 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 35 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 7 and December 4, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,191,372 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,810,997. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,379,467 cases. Of the 8,379,467 confirmed cases, 37,960 are imported; 8,341,453 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,500 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,500 deaths, 14,483 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
