Taiwan CECC narrows case contacts, requests passengers sitting in same or adjacent rows of seats to first case of influenza A (H1N1) confirmed in Hong Kong to voluntarily contact health authorities

After checking the list of passengers on flight MU505, the Central Epidemic Commend Center determined 24 travelers arrived in Taiwan on 6 different connection flights on April 30, 2009.In addition, the first case of novel influenza A (H1N1) confirmed in Hong Kong was found to be seated in row 23 on flight MU505.Therefore, the CECC has requested the 24 travelers, especially those sitting in the three rows in front and three rows behind (rows 20-26), to voluntarily report themselves to the Taiwan CDC through the Hotline, 1922.Further, those passengers are also urged observe their own health, conduct home quarantine (till May 7, 2009), and measure body temperature once in the morning and once at night for a period of seven days.If influenza-like symptoms such as fever and cough develop in the next two to three days, please contact the health authorities and refrain from seeking medical care without the help of the health authorities. On the other hand, the Taiwan CECC pointed out that the in-flight risk of transmission of influenza A (H1N1) for the passengers who were on the six connection flights with the 24 case contacts was nil and those passengers would not be traced.
