CECC confirms 933 more COVID-19 cases, including 744 domestic cases and 189 imported cases

On April 13, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 933 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 933 new cases, 744 are domestic and 189 are imported (95 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the 744 new domestic cases, 358 are male and 385 are female while the gender of the other one is still under investigation. They range in age from under five to 99 years. They suffered the onset of symptoms between April 4 and April 12, while 368 of them didn't develop symptoms. Of those domestic cases, 264 were reported in New Taipei City, 141 in Taipei City, 56 in Taoyuan City, 56 in Keelung City, 50 in Kaohsiung City, 48 in Hualien County, 23 each in Hsinchu County and Taichung City, 14 each in Yilan County and Pingtung County, 12 in Tainan City, 11 in Hsinchu City, seven in Changhua County, four in Taitung County, three each in Miaoli County, Chiayi County, and Chiayi City, two in Yunlin County, and one in Nantou County.

Regarding the 189 new imported cases, 81 are male and 101 are female while the gender of the other seven is being investigated. They are between the ages of under five and 79 years old. Of the cases, 29 arrived from Vietnam, 22 from Indonesia, four from Japan, three each from Canada, the US and the Philippines, two each from Korea and France, and one each from Qatar, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Spain and Belgium; the areas the remaining 115 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 11 and April 12, 2022.

Additionally, domestic case #28816 announced on April 12 has been reclassified as an imported case after an epidemiological investigation found the case had arrived from Thailand on April 1.

The CECC reported that a total of 7,495,983 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 7,466,086. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 29,593 cases. Of the 29,593 confirmed cases, 9,266 are imported; 20,273 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 188 cases (six newly added; five domestic cases and one imported case removed due to negative test results and duplicate records after epidemiological investigations) have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 854 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 854 deaths, 840 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
