Enterovirus Infection with Severe Complications in Taiwan - Week 33


During Week 33 (August 13th to 19th) in 2017, no new severe case of enterovirus infection was confirmed (Figure 1).There has been a total of seven enterovirus infection cases with severe complications (EVSC) in 2017, including one death due to Coxsackie B3 infection. The majority of cases were aged 0-1 (Table 1). The cases were caused by Coxsackie A6, Coxsackie A2, Coxsackie B3, and ECHO 5. Figure 2 shows the geographical distribution of these cases according to their residence.
