April 7, 2009--As of April 7, 2009, 10 cases of enterovirus infection with severe complications had been reported and confirmed by Taiwan CDC. Among these 10 confirmed cases, 9 cases had been discharged and 1 was in general hospital ward. Those confirmed cases were all around 5 years of age (see Table 1(pdf file)), and 2 cases each were located in the northern and central area of Taiwan, 6 in the southern area of Taiwan. During Week 14 (April 1 to April 7), 1 case was newly confirmed. This case was a female and aged around 5, she was caused by EV71, and as of April 7, she was in general hospital ward. This case was reported in Chiayi City. (See Fig. 2(pdf file))
