May 18, 2010--As of May 18, 2010, 8 cases of enterovirus infection with severe complications had been reported and confirmed by Taiwan CDC. Among these 8 confirmed cases, 6 had been discharged, 1 was in general hospital ward, 1 was in ICU. Those confirmed cases were all under 5 years old (see Table 1(pdf file)). Five cases were from the northern part of Taiwan, and three were from the southern. (see Fig. 1(pdf file))

One case was confirmed in Week 19 (May 12 to May 18). This case is 11-month-old boy from Taoyuan County, his infection was caused by EV 71 and he is still in general hospital ward. (see Fig. 2(pdf file))
