On February 5, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 22,991 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 22,991 new cases, 22,594 are domestic and 397 are imported. The CECC announced 73 deaths today.

Regarding the 22,594 new domestic cases, 10,241 are male and 12,337 are female, while the gender of the other 16 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,358 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,721 in Taichung City, 2,667 in Kaohsiung City, 2,667 in Taoyuan City, 2,165 in Taipei City, 1,758 in Tainan City, 1,081 in Changhua County, 683 in Hsinchu County, 621 in Pingtung County, 564 in Hsinchu City, 516 in Miaoli County, 470 in Yilan County, 438 in Yunlin County, 434 in Keelung City, 379 in Nantou County, 334 in Hualien County, 298 in Chiayi County, 186 in Chiayi City, 169 in Taitung County, 78 in Kinmen County, 59 in Penghu County, and six in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 73 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 46 men and 27 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 397 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between January 5 and February 4, 2023.

The CECC reported that a total of 21,840,096 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 12,169,254. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 9,668,845 cases. Of the 9,668,845 confirmed cases, 50,060 are imported; 9,618,731 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 16,687 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 16,687 deaths, 16,666 are from domestic cases and the other 21 are from imported cases.
