Eighth round of name-based rationing system for at-home COVID-19 rapid test kits, sixth round of free rapid test program for children six and under, and fourth round of free rapid test program for elderly people 65 and older to begin on December 1; people can purchase/collect test kits with their NHI cards

On November 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced that the eighth round of the name-based rationing system for at-home rapid test kits, the sixth round of the program to provide a pack of five free rapid test kits to each child aged six or under (born on or after September 2, 2016), and the fourth round of the free rapid test program to offer a pack of five rapid tests to each elderly person aged 65 or older (born in 1957 or earlier) will begin on December 1, 2022.

In each round, people can buy up to six packs of rapid tests at a time or different times (without limit) and can have a person collect/purchase rapid tests on their behalf. One pack (five rapid tests) is still priced at NT$500. People who need rapid tests and are eligible to get them can purchase/collect rapid test kits by presenting their NHI cards at NHI-contracted pharmacies or public health centers that sell rapid test kits under the name-based system.
