CECC confirms 89 more COVID-19 cases, including 10 domestic cases and 79 imported cases


On March 22, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 89 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 89 new cases, 10 are domestic and 79 are imported (26 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the domestic cases, they are three men and seven women ranging in age from under five to 69 years.

Regarding the 79 new imported cases, 51 are male and 27 are female while the gender of the other case is being investigated. They range in age from under five to 79 years. Of the cases, 17 arrived in Taiwan from Vietnam, five from Malaysia, four each from the US and Indonesia, three from Canada, two each from Singapore, the UK, Sweden, Hong Kong, Korea, Germany, and one each from Denmark, Mauritius, the Netherlands, India, Latvia, Spain, Ethiopia, Thailand, Mauritania, Australia, and Belize; the areas the remaining 23 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between March 6 and 21, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,770,235 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,747,918. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 22,091 cases. Of the 22,091 confirmed cases, 6,519 are imported; 15,518 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 135 (one newly added) cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
