CECC confirms 21,092 more COVID-19 cases, including 20,802 domestic cases and 290 imported cases


On August 14, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 21,092 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 21,092 new cases, 20,802 are domestic and 290 are imported. The CECC announced 22 deaths today.

Regarding the 20,802 new domestic cases, 9,572 are male and 11,220 are female, while the gender of the other 10 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 4,312 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,473 in Taichung City, 2,432 in Taipei City, 2,324 in Taoyuan City, 1,731 in Kaohsiung City, 1,392 in Tainan City, 897 in Changhua County, 566 in Hsinchu County, 541 in Yunlin County, 535 in Miaoli County, 516 in Hsinchu City, 500 in Yilan County, 474 in Pingtung County, 396 in Keelung City, 359 in Hualien County, 318 in Nantou County, 313 in Chiayi County, 208 in Penghu County, 195 in Chiayi City, 174 in Taitung County, 136 in Kinmen County, and eight in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 22 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 13 men and nine women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 290 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between July 15 and August 13, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 15,414,675 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,519,596. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,888,840 cases. Of the 4,888,840 confirmed cases, 23,316 are imported; 4,865,470 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 9,435 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 9,435 deaths, 9,420 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
