CECC confirms 22,595 more COVID-19 cases, including 22,347 domestic cases and 248 imported cases


On July 23, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 22,595 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 22,595 new cases, 22,347 are domestic and 248 are imported. The CECC announced 53 deaths today.

Regarding the 22,347 new domestic cases, 10,230 are male and 12,108 are female, while the gender of the other nine cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,688 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,878 in Taichung City, 2,303 in Taoyuan City, 2,288 in Kaohsiung City, 2,202 in Taipei City, 1,705 in Tainan City, 1,088 in Changhua County, 724 in Pingtung County, 637 in Hsinchu County, 600 in Yilan County, 587 in Yunlin County, 587 in Miaoli County, 549 in Hsinchu City, 478 in Hualien County, 433 in Chiayi County, 417 in Nantou County, 337 in Keelung City, 292 in Chiayi City, 261 in Taitung County, 136 in Kinmen County, 130 in Penghu County, and 27 in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 53 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 34 men and 19 women ranging in age from 30 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 248 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between June 23 and July 22, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 14,495,805 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 10,080,499. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 4,408,857 cases. Of the 4,408,857 confirmed cases, 18,186 are imported; 4,390,617 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 8,531 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 8,531 deaths, 8,516 are from domestic cases and the other 15 are from imported cases.
