On March 17, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 91 new confirmed imported cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan (41 of them tested positive after landing). The CECC announced no deaths today.

Regarding the new imported cases, they are 34 men and 57 women ranging in age from under five to 89 years. Of the cases, 19 arrived in Taiwan from the Philippines, 13 from Vietnam, four each from France, Indonesia, and Thailand, two each from the US, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Switzerland, and the UK, and one each from Iran, Cambodia, Malaysia, Korea, Poland, Singapore, Brazil, Pakistan; the areas the remaining 29 cases arrived from are being investigated. They all arrived between February 16 and March 16, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 6,671,753 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 6,649,534. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 21,583 cases. Of the 21,583 confirmed cases, 6,036 are imported; 15,493 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated, and a cumulative total of 134 cases have been removed as confirmed cases. There have been a cumulative total of 853 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 853 deaths, 839 are from domestic cases and the other 14 are from imported cases.
