CECC confirms 17,663 more COVID-19 cases, including 17,549 domestic cases and 114 imported cases


On December 14, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 17,663 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 17,663 new cases, 17,549 are domestic and 114 are imported. The CECC announced 37 deaths today.

Regarding the 17,549 new domestic cases, 8,098 are male and 9,439 are female, while the gender of the other 12 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,195 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,236 in Taichung City, 2,008 in Taoyuan City, 2,001 in Kaohsiung City, 1,774 in Taipei City, 1,361 in Tainan City, 845 in Changhua County, 644 in Hsinchu County, 531 in Hsinchu City, 493 in Pingtung County, 457 in Miaoli County, 353 in Yunlin County, 282 in Chiayi County, 261 in Nantou County, 231 in Hualien County, 221 in Keelung City, 212 in Yilan County, 202 in Chiayi City, 107 in Taitung County, 94 in Kinmen County, 40 in Penghu County, and one in Lienchiang County.

Regarding the 37 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 17 men and 20 women ranging in age from 20 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 114 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 13 and December 13, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,369,212 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,852,462. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,515,833 cases. Of the 8,515,833 confirmed cases, 38,466 are imported; 8,477,313 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,759 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,759 deaths, 14,742 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
