CECC confirms 19,155 more COVID-19 cases, including 19,051 domestic cases and 104 imported cases


On December 21, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) announced 19,155 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Taiwan. Of the 19,155 new cases, 19,051 are domestic and 104 are imported. The CECC announced 27 deaths today.

Regarding the 19,051 new domestic cases, 8,681 are male and 10,355 are female, while the gender of the other 15 cases is under investigation. They range in age from under five to above 90 years. Of those domestic cases, 3,807 were reported in New Taipei City, 2,362 in Taichung City, 2,261 in Taoyuan City, 2,173 in Taipei City, 1,991 in Kaohsiung City, 1,350 in Tainan City, 930 in Changhua County, 748 in Hsinchu County, 552 in Hsinchu City, 429 in Pingtung County, 426 in Miaoli County, 349 in Yunlin County, 279 in Chiayi County, 267 in Yilan County, 243 in Keelung City, 240 in Nantou County, 187 in Chiayi City, 184 in Hualien County, 121 in Taitung County, 90 in Kinmen County, and 62 in Penghu County.

Regarding the 27 deaths from domestic cases announced today, they were 10 men and 17 women ranging in age from 40 to above 90 years. They were severe cases.

Regarding the 104 imported cases, they all arrived in Taiwan between November 21 and December 20, 2022.

The CECC reported that a total of 20,508,858 cases related to COVID-19 have been reported in Taiwan among which COVID-19 has been ruled out in 11,883,241. Of these reported cases, infection with COVID-19 was laboratory-confirmed in 8,624,680 cases. Of the 8,624,680 confirmed cases, 39,049 are imported; 8,585,577 are domestic; 36 are naval crew members aboard the Panshi fast combat support ship; 3 are infections on an aircraft; 1 case has an unknown source of infection; 14 cases' sources of infection are being investigated. There have been a cumulative total of 14,958 COVID-19 deaths since 2020; of the 14,958 deaths, 14,941 are from domestic cases and the other 17 are from imported cases.
